Adding support for Google AMP

Our latest Themes and Pro Add-ons now support Google AMP and are compatible with the official AMP WordPress plugin. AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) is an open source framework from Google to accelerate the mobile web and improve loading times. For this purpose the code is compressed and a slimmed down and faster version of the website is provided.

How to use AMP

To use AMP, you can install and configure the official AMP WordPress plugin. Through our compatible themes you can now select Standard or Transitional mode and the AMP version of the website will look exactly the same as without AMP.

Restrictions: The features for

  • Sticky Header in Poseidon and Gridbox
  • Post Slideshows in Maxwell, Napoli, Poseidon, Tortuga, Treville and Wellington
  • as well as Scroll-to-Top Buttons in all Themes

are not available with AMP. These are deactivated because of the used scripts to keep the code of the website minimal. The navigation menus and header search have been adapted for AMP and are available as usual.

Please note: Before using the AMP plugin, the current legal situation should be observed. The AMP website is hosted on a CDN and thus on external Google servers for caching purposes, which can be problematic in regard to the European data protection laws. Whether and how AMP is compatible with the GDPR should therefore be checked.

Updated Themes

The following themes support the official AMP WordPress plugin:

  • Chronus
  • Donovan
  • Gambit
  • Gridbox
  • Harrison
  • Maxwell
  • Mercia
  • Napoli
  • Occasio
  • Palm Beach
  • Poseidon

We limit new features to our newest and most popular themes. But also our older themes will of course still get bugfixes and will be kept compatible with the current WordPress core version.
