Today I’d like to share our long-term plans for ending updates and support for our older themes. On 31th Dec 2022 we will send some of the themes released between 2014 and 2016 into their well-deserved retirement.
Occasio WordPress Theme launched
We end a difficult year for all of us with the release of our newest Blogging & Magazine WordPress Theme. Originally the theme should be named after the Greek god Kairos, the personification of opportunity, luck and favorable moments. Since the name was already taken by another theme, it now bears the name of the Roman equivalent Occasio. So Poseidon and Chronus will not get company.
Adding support for Google AMP
Our latest Themes and Pro Add-ons now support Google AMP and are compatible with the official AMP WordPress plugin. AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) is an open source framework from Google to accelerate the mobile web and improve loading times. For this purpose the code is compressed and a slimmed down and faster version of the website is provided.
Updates for improved navigation menus
With the development of our latest theme Harrison we have completely redesigned our navigation script to improve usability and accessibility of the WordPress menus. We are now upgrading many of our older themes and Pro-Add-ons to bring these resulting learning effects and more robust technology to them. All navigation menus have been completely re-created from scratch, i.e. the HTML, JavaScript and CSS have changed.
The corresponding updates will be available soon in your WordPress backend.
Magazine Blocks Update: Selecting multiple categories
A frequently requested feature for our Magazine blocks was the ability to select posts from several categories. With the new version 1.1 the category select field is now replaced by a multi-checkbox option for categories. If no category is explicitly selected, the latest posts of all categories are displayed.
New Feature: Retina Logo Option
Today we have updated our themes and introduced a new feature to support high-resolution logos. With a new theme setting it is now possible to scale down logo graphics for retina displays.
